Membership
Open to alumni, students, staff and anyone in the community with an interest in Penn State men's hockey.
What membership is for
Membership of Friends of Penn State Men's Hockey is how the club stays a community rather than a mailing list. Members receive the newsletter, are invited to the club's socials and arena tours, and get first call on places when the club charters travel to an away game.
It is also, straightforwardly, how the club funds itself. Dues cover the newsletter, the events and the club's share of the costs of the things it organises through the season.
Membership levels
The club has historically offered four levels, running for a single hockey season:
| Level | Intended for |
|---|---|
| Student | Currently enrolled students |
| Individual | A single member |
| Household | Two or more members at one address |
| Captain | Supporting members who contribute at a higher level |
Membership runs with the hockey season rather than the calendar year, so renewals fall in late summer and early autumn.
What members receive
- Full Strength, the club newsletter, in the fall and the spring. The most recent issue is a membership benefit; earlier issues are published in the public archive.
- Invitations to the club's socials through the season.
- Places on arena tours and on club road trips, at the member rate.
- The chance to volunteer — at the concourse table, on the newsletter, or with the raffle and the golf outing.
Enquiries
Questions about membership, renewals, address changes or anything else on this page should go to info@fopsmh.org, and a volunteer will pick them up.
The club has traditionally also staffed a table on the concourse at home games, where new and renewing members could be signed up in person. If you are at a game and want to know more, that table is the place to start — and if you want to know what working it is like, we wrote about running the membership table.
