Events, fundraisers and travel from the club's own picture files.
The club has photographed its own events for years — golf outings, socials, arena tours, road trips and a long series of raffle baskets on concourse tables. A selection is below.
Most of these pictures were taken by members, on the sort of evening that does not feel like it needs recording at the time. That is exactly why they are worth keeping. The spring golf outing at the Penn State Golf Club draws the largest single gathering the club organises each year, with alumni of the program returning alongside members who have never laced a skate. The arena tours are smaller and, for most people who go on one, more memorable: standing in the home dressing room under the words on the wall is not something a ticket can buy.
The raffle baskets are their own small genre. Every one of them was assembled on somebody's kitchen table over a weeknight, photographed on a concourse the following Friday, and sold five dollars at a time across a season. How that works, and why the oldest fundraiser in the book still outperforms the clever ones, is the subject of a separate article.
Older material — season reports, awards banquets and the club's newsletter going back to the ACHA years — is in the newsletter archive and on the history page.
